It has been and up-and-down kind of weekend.
Friday: came home and vegged out - good.
Saturday: cleaned in the morning and Jim came home - very good.
Had a nice dinner to belatedly celebrate my birthday - also very good.
Got into an argument (it involved calipers) - not good.
Made up and talked about it - very good.
Sunday: lesson planning/progress reports - okay.
Anxiety - not good. Very not good.
I'm just so keyed up and tense right now. I need to get this teaching thing right, and soon.

When you were telling me about your kids over AIM the other day, I was amazed. You seem to know them so well now, the good and the bad, and that's only help you teach them.
Keep your chin up, hon. :)
I'm glad that there were so many goods over the weekend, and happy belated birthday, I don't think I told you before! So sorry. We are precisely one month apart, must have been a good year for girl babies. ;)
I don't think that teaching is something for which there is an absolute "right", not exactly, so please don't put that much pressure on yourself. Even the most brilliantly designed and flawlessly executed plan can be complicated by all of the stochasticities of dealing with kids. No one is perfect, and if you were I think that would make the rugrats suspicious. ;) Seriously, I think your batch of kids is incredibly lucky to have you, try not to be so hard on yourself.

one day at a time, one moment at a time, one step at a time.
it would be something from an impropable novel if you had the whole teaching down before your first month is even over. lots of my friends are teachers, and their first years were hard, hard, hard and scarey. they say even the second year is that much easier.
THIS IS YOUR FIRST MONTH OF TEACHING!
everyone is scared. AND you have an eating disorder, which makes absolutely nothing easier.
i think that we of the disordered eating have a much rougher time than most with hard, uncomfortable stuff. we run to our weight for protection. in this way, we don't have as much practise coping with real world issues.
however, YOU are coping and doing. you got your degree, went thru that training and you show up for school every day with ideas and plans, doing the very best anyone could expect.
