Keep on Keepin' On

I am spinning my wheels - actually, I'm spinning on the elliptical mostly. I don't have a placement, I still hate my body, blah blah blah.

Believe it or not, though, there are some things that make me happy. It takes a bit of mental scrounging, but here's a list:

1. My fiance. Living with Jim has taken some adjusting, but I can't get over how lucky I am to be living with my best friend and husband-to-be.

2. My friend Tamsin, who is living with us for a while. Not only has she valiantly put up with sleeping on our couch and having us wake her every morning, but she's one of the most fun people I know.

3. I do not currently have a job, but I will have one. At least I keep telling myself that.

4. The website F My Life. No matter how shitty my day has been, someone else has had it worse.

5. The Ikea website. Going through it is just so soothing.

6. Our mini-garden. Right before I moved in Jim planted herbs (basil, spicy basil, marjoram, rosemary, and a few others), and after I got there we planted hot peppers, habaneros, and bell peppers. The herbs have already been awesome and I can't wait to until the peppers (not the habaneros, though) are ripe.

7. Television. Holy moly, there is some awesomely bad stuff out there.

What are the things that make you happy right now?

I'm working on the gratitude list every day. So far I've been able to list 5 each day. Today I've only got 4 on my list, because I'm trying not to repeat. It's getting tougher. Maybe number 5 today will be "Bad TV".

Adjusting to living with people can be a HUGE deal. I never realize quite how quirky I am until I either am a guest or have guests, and I would imagine the effect is magnified many times over when the arrangements are permanent. I am so, so glad that you have found a guy that is worthy of you and makes you happy.

Maybe the bright side of not having a placement yet is that you can enjoy your time with Tamsin while she is there! I'm sure a job will come through soon, and remember that no level of anxiety will make it happen faster, so it's better not to torture yourself. You are going to be the kind of teacher everyone wishes they had. ;)

It's good to try to look at things on the positive side at times. I think your Jim sounds great, and it's good to hear you are adjusting to co-habitation.

The job thing will come through. I bet they're just waiting to save the best for last. :-)

Yeah for the mini garden. I love herbs, though am not growing anything other than some durable mint.

I love the phrase "keep on keepin' on"! It almost always describes where i'm at in life :)

i'm greatful for my husband and kids, who give me something to live for.

i'm greatful for all green growing things. I would love to have a mini herb garden!
